Change in Hours of Community Aerodrome Radio Station - Dawson City, Yukon

NAV CANADA, the country's provider of civil air navigation services, assessed the hours of operation of the community aerodrome radio station (CARS) at the Dawson City Airport (CYDA). The assessment concluded that the hours of operation of the CARS can be modified to better service the airport.

The hours of the CARS at Dawson City will be changed to:

Hours (in UTC) – Effective Dates 

  • 1500 to 0000 – 1 December to 31 January
  • 1400 to 2300 – 1 February to 31 May 
  • 1200 to 0200 – 1 June to 30 September 
  • 1400 to 2300 – 1 October to 30 November 

As a result of this change, the Surface Weather Observation Program (aerodrome routine meteorological report [METAR] / aerodrome special meteorological report [SPECI]) hours will be changed to match the CARS hours.

The aerodrome forecast (TAF) hours will become:

  • 1 February to 31 May – 1600 to 2300 – 1600
  • 1 June to 30 September – 1400 to 0200 – 1400, 2100
  • 1 October to 30 November – 1600 to 2300 – 1600

This change will take effect 2 December 2021 at 0901 UTC. The appropriate aeronautical publications will be amended.
