About NAV CANADA Careers

We offer a variety of careers across the country from Technical Services to Air Traffic Services to Business and Operational Support. Browse our website to learn more about our areas of business. 

NAV CANADA is a private non-profit company, and our recruitment processes are different from the federal government. Contingent on the position, you may be asked to submit work samples, complete assessments, or attend interviews with our hiring team.

For non-air traffic services (ATS) roles, our recruitment process varies by type of position and location, but we aim to complete the entire process within two to three months.

Applying for a Job

Applying for a career at NAV CANADA is easy! You can submit a job application online directly from the job posting on our careers portalOpen a new window.

Once you have reviewed the job description and confirmed that you meet the skills and experience requirements, simply click the Apply button. It will direct you to our Workday Recruiting application, where you can create an account and submit your resume.

Yes. When you access a job posting via LinkedIn and click “Apply”, it will take you to our Workday careers portalOpen a new window to create a job application.

Yes. NAV CANADA posts all job opportunities on our careers portalOpen a new window. You may submit an application to any job posting that matches your interest and experience.

No. The personal information collected as part of each recruitment process will be used for the purposes of assessing your qualifications for that role alone. Please attach your most up to date resume with each application.

Application Review and Interview

Your application will be reviewed by a member of our talent acquisition team to ensure you meet the criteria listed in the job description.

Successful applicants will move forward in the recruitment process. If you are not selected to move forward in the recruitment process, you will be notified by a system notification sometime during or after the recruitment process is complete.

We will follow up directly only with those who are selected to move forward in the recruitment process. If you have not been selected to move forward, you will be notified by a system notification sometime during or after the recruitment process is complete. 

Your status in Workday, NAV CANADA's career portal is an indication of where you are in the application and assessment process. Please note that passing a step in the selection process does not guarantee that you will receive an invitation to the next assessment.  Your scores will be compared to those of other applicant's, and we will select candidates to move forward based on operational requirements.

Review: We have received your application and it is under review.  If we need more information, we will reach out to you.

Assessment:  You are eligible to complete or have recently completed one of our assessments. These assessments include an initial online test and an in-person computer-based test. Candidates applying for the Montreal region will also complete a language test in this stage

Interview: You are eligible to complete or have recently completed one of our interview assessments.  This stage includes a virtual pre-screening interview and an in-person half-day assessment with the local hiring manager

Offer:  You are eligible for a paid training opportunity with NAV CANADA.  To fully qualify for training, you will need to meet all of NAV CANADA's pre-employment conditions such as security clearance, medical requirements, and drug testing (including cannabis)

Do Not Move Forward: You were unsuccessful in your most recent stage of testing.  We are unable to provide feedback on individual performance and there is a waiting period of 36 months from your application date before you are eligible to reapply for air traffic services.  To apply for other career opportunities within the company, visit our careers portal 

We use various assessment tools as well as virtual or in-person interviews contingent on the position and stage of the recruitment process.  

If you are selected for an assessment you will be contacted by a member of our talent acquisition team. The requirements for the assessment will be communicated to you at that time. 

If you are selected for an interview, you will meet with our hiring panel either virtually or in person. If virtual, find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed and ensure you have a good internet connection by testing your device in advance.

We are committed to developing inclusive and barrier-free selection processes and work environments. If you are contacted for an interview or assessment, please advise the human resources professional of the accommodation measures you may require.

We use an interview panel. A typical panel consists of the manager accountable for the position, as well as one or two other managers or a technical expert, and a member of the talent acquisition team. During the interview, the panel will assess each candidate based the job requirements, proficiency, and suitability.

Prior to your interview, explore the NAV CANADA corporate website to learn more about the Company. Review the job posting and think about how your experience and qualifications relate to the job. You may also want to make a list of potential questions and practice your answers - it will help you to become more knowledgeable and self assured. 

We ask behavioural and situational questions and are seeking strong examples from your personal or professional experience that match the requirements of the position. The interview is an opportunity to meet the hiring manager and other NAV CANADA employees. Come prepared with any questions you may have. 

Information on timelines and next steps will be given during any assessment or interview stages of the job competition.

After the Interview

If you are offered a position with NAV CANADA, a security check, drug test, reference check, education verification, and work history verification are all required as part of the offer process. Details for completing the background check will be sent to you once you have received a letter of offer.
