Alberta Airspace and Services Project
The Alberta Airspace and Services Project is modernizing the airspace and air route structure utilizing RNAV to achieve improved efficiency for air operations in central and southern Alberta.
The changes are being planned in conjunction with the scheduled 2014 completion of a parallel runway at Calgary International Airport and the closure of the Edmonton City Centre Airport.
The project is being implemented in phases. Phase 2 featured new IFR procedures as of June 27, 2013, Phase 3 involves new procedures effective December 12, 2013, and Phase 4 involves procedures effective both May 29 and June 28, 2014.
