The AIS Data Standards Specialist is responsible for the development of AIS Standards, maintenance of AIS SOPs documentation and amendment process. The AIS Standards Specialist will collate any suggestion for improvement of existing AIS technical processes and procedures, coordinate the development of revised AIS technical processes or procedures and edit SOP documents.
Successful completion of secondary school OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
Post-secondary education would be considered an asset
Experience in gathering user requirements / consultation with stakeholders
Experience in working with engineering
Experience in writing guidelines, policies, training material and specifications.
Experience maintaining and documenting AIS AIM Standard Operating Procedures
Experience conducting and participate in internal audits
Experience with Aeronautical Information software and systems (e.g. ADMS SDO, ADMS GV, ADMS INO, NCASTS, Land Use etc.) an asset
Extensive knowledge of Canadian ATS/Airspace related operations and NOTAM requirements
Extensive knowledge of international NOTAM practices (FAA, OPADD, etc.)
Knowledge of AIRAC, AIP Supp and AIC processes
Knowledge of the ICAO NOTAM format and Canadian/American domestic formats
Knowledge of NAV CANADA ATS systems
Knowledge of AFTN systems
Extensive knowledge of AIM technical policies, procedures and processes used in the collection, verification and maintenance of aeronautical information and production of products.
In depth knowledge of AIS technologies and databases.
Knowledge of industry trends and practices (e.g. AIS to AIM, EAD working groups, EAD Change management etc.)
Knowledge of aircraft operations (basic knowledge of aircraft systems and limitations, IFR and VFR operations, navigational aids, aviation terminology)
Knowledge of airport operations (e.g. General operations and services, NOTAM requirements)
Knowledge of Aeronautical Information Services and Products.
Knowledge of the ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices applicable to AIM
